Candelabra cactus, Euphorbia ingens, is a large, tree-like succulent with ribbed, segmented branching stems that fan out like a candelabra, reaching 6–10ft indoors. It's slow-growing, but even a 6ft specimen commands attention on its own. This is the more severe relative of African milk tree — its sap is extremely caustic rather than just irritating.
In the Office
This plant needs strong, direct light — it's one of the few here that tolerates full sun — and it belongs somewhere it can be seen without being touched. Its milky sap causes severe skin burns and can cause blindness on eye contact, so it has to be placed where nobody can brush against it or break a stem by accident. It's not a plant for a corridor, a desk area, or anywhere with regular foot traffic.
