Senior Plant Maintenance Technician

About Benji's

Benji's designs, installs and cares for plants in offices across the GTA, and has done so for over 40 years. We work with some of the largest, most beautiful workplaces in the city, including Shopify, CBRE and WeWork.

We're growing and looking for a Senior Plant Maintenance Technician to lead our plant care team, raise the bar on quality, and help train the next generation of technicians — while staying hands-on with your own route of clients.

What you'll do

  • Lead a team of plant maintenance technicians and own the quality of their work across every client site.
  • Train and onboard new technicians, and coach the team on plant care technique and client service.
  • Spot issues before clients do: pests, disease, overwatering, light or humidity problems, and the one wilted leaf others would miss.
  • Support and lead installations: placing plants with precision, tidying spaces, and making sure every job looks polished.
  • Maintain your own route of client offices: water, prune, fertilize, clean and groom plants so every installation looks its best.
  • Identify when plants need replacing and flag it so we can quote and swap them.
  • Carry and lift equipment and materials, and use a ladder or step stool to reach plants in high-rise offices.
  • Record your visits and notes accurately in our scheduling app, for yourself and your team.

What you bring

  • 2+ years of commercial indoor plant care experience, including experience training or leading others.
  • Confidence diagnosing and resolving plant issues independently, and coaching others to do the same.
  • Attention to detail and pride in work that holds up at scale, across a whole team's routes.
  • A valid driver's licence and reliable access to a vehicle for getting between client sites.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and to stand, climb ladders, or walk for long periods.
  • Clear, friendly communication with clients and teammates.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Nice to have: a background in horticulture, landscaping, or a similar field.

Why join us

  • Ownership: lead a team and your own client route, with real say in how quality is maintained.
  • A well-established company with a 40-year track record and room to grow as we expand.
  • Work that is visible: you and your team will see the difference you make every day.
  • Health benefits, paid training, and mileage/parking reimbursed.

Compensation & schedule

  • Pay: $26–$36/hour (CAD), based on experience.
  • Schedule: full-time, weekday daytime hours — no weekends. This may start part-time depending on candidate availability and business need.
  • Mileage and parking reimbursed; paid time off scaled to hours.
  • Vacation and statutory holidays in line with the Ontario Employment Standards Act.
