Dracaena fragrans 'Gold Star' is the boldest of Benji's dracaenas to identify: its broad, arching leaves carry a bright gold centre stripe that sets it apart from the plain green-on-green striping of 'Michiko' and the narrower leaves of 'Elegance'. It keeps a classic corn-plant form on canes sold as multi-cane floor plants at 4–6 feet. The gold variegation needs decent ambient light to hold its colour — in low light it fades toward plain green and starts to look like a generic corn plant.
